Calvin Phua Appointed Chief Executive Sla

SINGAPORE (Apr 2): Starting May 1, Calvin Phua will be taking the helm as the new chief executive of the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), according to a media release by the Ministry of Law (MinLaw) on April 2. During this transition, Phua will remain as the deputy secretary (policy) of MinLaw.Over the years, Phua has been instrumental in leading important initiatives to strengthen Singapore’s legal system and enhance access to justice. He has been especially key in spearheading the establishment of the Public Defender’s Office, as well as implementing legal frameworks that provided aid to businesses and individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.Prior to his appointment, Phua has held various positions in the public sector, including Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Transport.

SLA is confident that Phua will continue to lead the organisation with success, following the footsteps of previous chief executive, Colin Low, who has held the position since 2011. Phua has been a key figure at MinLaw, leading efforts to strengthen Singapore’s legal system and improve access to justice. Starting May 1, Phua will succeed Low as the chief executive of SLA. The organisation is optimistic about his leadership and is confident that he will continue the success of his predecessor.
