Hdb Extends Rental Voucher Scheme Families Waiting Bto Flat Completion Dec 31

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has announced that the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS) will be extended until the end of this year. The scheme, which aims to provide financial support for young couples and families renting from the open market while awaiting the completion of their Build-to-Order (BTO) flats, was originally set to end in June. Eligible families under the scheme will receive $300 per month on a reimbursement basis to help with rental costs. The decision to extend the PPHS was made to provide interim support for eligible families until HDB is able to increase the supply of PPHS flats. By the end of this year, HDB plans to ramp up the supply of PPHS flats to 4,000 units, a significant increase from the 800 units available in 2021. This extension is expected to benefit about 200 households, according to HDB. Eligible families must meet certain criteria, such as having booked an uncompleted flat from HDB’s sales exercise and having a household income of $7,000 or below.AdvertisementAccording to HDB, the application rate for PPHS flats has decreased significantly in recent years as the supply of PPHS flats has increased. In 2021, the application rate was over 20, but it has now reduced to around three. Since June 2023, all eligible applicants, including married couples with children below the age of 18 and expectant parents, have been invited to select a PPHS flat. Interested individuals can compare the prices of HDB properties through the Ask Buddy platform and access information on HDB loans and bank loans. They can also view past HDB rental and sale transactions and compare the price trends of HDB, condo, and landed properties.
