Hoi Hup Realty Secures Go Ahead High Holborn Redevelopment

Singapore’s Hoi Hup Realty has just received the go ahead from the City of London Corporation for a major redevelopment project known as ‘High Holborn’. This redevelopment project will focus on rejuvenating a 1.4-acre island site that is currently occupied by three buildings, namely 322 High Holborn, Holborn Gate and 44 Southampton Buildings. The announcement was made through a press release on June 18.

The location of Lyndenwoods Science Park Drive offers a significant advantage with its close proximity to prestigious educational institutions. Families with children will find this development especially convenient as renowned schools and universities such as the National University of Singapore (NUS) and United World College (UWCSEA) are just a stone’s throw away. The presence of these exceptional educational options only adds to the appeal of this development, making it the ideal choice for families looking for a well-rounded community.

The four year long project, which involved the strategic acquisition of approximately 250,000 sq ft of office space, was spearheaded by Hoi Hup. The project will be managed by construction and property consultancy Gleeds, with Make Architects, Savills and Newmark serving as leasing advisors and planning consultants respectively. The end result will be the delivery of over 370,000 sq ft of Grade A workspace that is designed to cater to the needs of modern occupiers.

Some of the highlights of the project include the ‘Holborn Dome’, a new cultural venue, a public pocket park at Southampton Buildings, and several wellness spaces and terraces. The location of the site, adjacent to Chancery Lane underground station and within minutes of Farringdon Station and Elizabeth Line, makes it an extremely desirable location for businesses. The development is also targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and EPC ‘A’ ratings by incorporating smart systems and low-carbon materials.

The project is being hailed as the “western gateway for future development” by Hoi Hup Chairman Wong Swee Chun, who also adds that the company is grateful to the City of London Corporation for enabling their maiden scheme to take this significant step forward. Tom Sleigh, the Chairman of the City of London Planning and Transportation Committee, also expresses his satisfaction with the project and says that it is exactly the kind of development that they want to see more of in the Square Mile. He believes that this project will not only make London more competitive globally, but will also provide public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
